Expanding high-speed internet infrastructure across the Kootenays.
Thousands of rural residents are getting fiber infrastructure to their home! The Connect the Basin project is a major multi-year initiative bringing fiber-to-the-home connectivity across a wide range of East Kootenay communities, providing access to ultra-high-speed internet for homes that have historically had limited or no broadband options. A fire on August 4th, 2025 burned our building down. Despite the devastating loss, our team had temporary equipment in place and was passing internet traffic the very next day. A new building was placed by helicopter a month later, restoring the relay site to full operation.
Replaced 15-year-old batteries and upgraded energy-collecting solar panels for improved efficiency, ensuring more reliable off-grid power for our Swansea Mountain tower site.
Doubled the number of watts in the solar array and installed a new propane backup generator, significantly improving the energy resilience and uptime of our Mount Rykerts tower site.
